At Wildcat Gifts, we love Kentucky of course, the sports teams as well as the culture, the values, the people – and the FOOD!  We have the ultimate list of Kentucky restaurants for you! There are so many delicious restaurants in Kentucky.  There is no food like southern food and Kentucky cuisine is at the top of the list as far as I am concerned.   No I am not just talking about Kentucky Fried Chicken or Parkette Drive In, even though I love them both.  I love being able to find new, great,  restaurants, a hole in the wall diner or a more upscale establishment, there are so many options in Kentucky to chose from.

We enjoy traveling around the state, and always ask locals.  If you could eat one meal within 15 miles of where we are right now, where would you go? When we here the same place over and over, we try it out!

Unfortunately restaurants in Kentucky and the United States for that matter, can be in business one week and out of business the next.  We suggest that you do you research and call them, before you take a long road trip.  We try to keep this list updated the best we can.

Mammy’s Kitchen
If you are touring the Bourbon Trail you want to be sure to stop in at Mammy’s Kitchen for some delicious comfort food, especially the Bourbon Burger.

My Old Kentucky Dinner Train
Another “must-do” along the Bourbon Trail is My Old Kentucky Dinner Train. This dinner train operates year round and customers can enjoy the beautiful views along with a delicious meal.

Boone Tavern Restaurant
Southern elegance and dining is what you will find at the historic Boone Tavern in Berea, Kentucky.  There spoon bread is worth the trip even if you are driving from Paducah!

The Dixie Cafe
This popular Corbin establishment is found on Main Street in Corbin and has been a favorite of locals for years. I  had a friend for Corbin that would stop talking about Dixie Dogs, after I tried my first one, I understood why.

The Original Sanders Cafe
I know I said KFC was not included in this list of restaurants but you can’t talk about Kentucky restaurants without talking about the Original Sanders Cafe and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Located in Corbin, Kentucky you can view a replica of the original Sander’s Cafe.

The Rootbeer Stand
A popular Corbin drive-in made famous for their rootbeer floats and chili buns. This establishment is only open seasonally (March-October). Arrive early to get a parking spot because it tends to get very busy around lunch and dinner times.

The Wrigley Taproom and Brewery
This is a locally owned restaurant which offers full farm-to-table menu, sourced from local farmers.

Glendale, Kentucky Restaurants

The Whistle Stop
If you find yourself in Glendale be sure to take time to visit The Whistle Stop. A family owned restaurant serving up Southern Home Cooking since 1975.

Favas is located in Georgetown, Kentucky and has been around since 1910.  Two of my three daughters waited tables
there when they were teenagers.   Great sandwiches and pies and don’t forget the fried pickles.

Featured on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, the Parkette has been a Lexington favorite for over 60 years.


London, Kentucky Restaurants

Brie’s Brews Coffeehouse
A locally owned coffee house which features many options of hot drinks, frozen drinks, and more. They also often host local artists and musicians so you can enjoy the entertainment and a cup of coffee.

A local downtown favorite known for their hot dogs and chili Weaver’s is now a popular place to visit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They now offer so much more than hot dogs and chili.


**Update** In February, 2015 Weaver’s was destroyed by a massive fire. The Weaver
family has since opened two new locations. Weaver’s Landing is located at the
London-Corbin Airport and Weaver’s on 4th is located in downtown London.



Louisville, Kentucky Restaurants

Jack Fry’s
From Shrimp and Grits to Veal Tenderloin, Jack Fry’s on Bardstown Road is sure to please. Jack Fry’s is one of the oldest and most respected restaurants in Louisville. Enjoy your dinner in their dimly lit dining room with a tin ceiling and black and white photographs covering the walls.

Hillbilly Tea
This restaurant is often forgot because it’s downtown, on a one way street. You will find Hillbilly Tea located across the street from White Castle.

Wagner’s Pharmacy

Wagner’s has been a Louisville tradition since 1922, especially with the crowd at Churchhill Down’s. Grab a barstool and enjoy your meal. You never know what horse racing personalities may drop by.

The Brown Hotel
Home of the Hot Brown, The Brown Hotel, built in 1923, offers some of the finest dining in Louisville.  The Hot Brown is now a popular menu item at many Kentucky establishments.  If you have never had a Hot Brown, you sincerely must!


Located on the 25th floor of the Galt House Hotel this restaurant offers fine dining and an amazing view from this revolving restaurant. Yes, I said revolving. While you are dining you are slowing revolving around which gives you the chance to see some beautiful views of the riverfront in downtown Louisville.
